Zimbabwean born, Tariro Taneka (Ta to her friends and colleagues) works within Boustead's geospatial technology division, for Esri Australia.

Ta immigrated to Australia in 2005, leaving her family in the UK to extend her academic achievements. After completing both a Bachelor of Commerce and a Master of Urban and Environmental Planning, she worked for a short time as a project research officer for the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads – before transitioning to Esri Australia.

Today, after 10 years with the company, Ta works as part of the organisation’s newly formed Client Success Division as a Senior Program Adoption Lead.

She has established herself as an industry identity – featuring regularly on the event circuit and most recently has begun hosting a popular podcast series: GIS Directions. Like many of her geospatial colleagues, Ta has also been active in Boustead’s extensive efforts around disaster support during the COVID-19 pandemic.

She sees herself continuing to grow with the Boustead Geospatial Group – exploring new markets and opportunities for spatial sciences to make a difference; and eventually, one day, joining the leadership team.

When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Ta said: “Seeing people connect with the value of spatial – and literally watching minds open…”
